The International Working Group on Sexuality and Social Policy
Mailman School of Public Health

The International Working Group on Sexuality and Social Policy (IWGSSP) was constituted as a global forum composed of researchers and activists from a wide range of countries and regions of the world. Inspired by local and international initiatives, the IWGSSP's mandate is twofold: to contribute to sexuality related global policy debates through strategic policy-oriented research and analysis projects, and to promote more effective linkages between local, regional and global initiatives. In June 2004, the IWGSSP's first working paper, Global Implications of US Domestic and International Policies on Sexuality, was released. This report examines the international implications of US policies on sexuality for policymakers, advocates and service providers within the US and in other countries at the national and local level and within the UN system. Current projects include the Policy Monitoring Project, which will include a series of in-country and institutional case studies of sexuality-related policies and an analysis of the intersection between case studies and global sexuality initiatives, and the development of an annotated bibliography on sexual rights.
