Oxford Workshop for the History of Childhood
College of Physicians and Surgeons

The Oxford Workshop for the History of Childhood at Magdalen College, Oxford, and the Program for Pediatrics and the Humanities at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University are linked interdisciplinary research and teaching programs. They jointly examine the medical care of children in light of the interactions of history, bioethics, law, economics, theology, literature, and politics. The intent is to develop a greater understanding of how these various influences have affected the medical care of children in the past and how they may currently be influencing it. This knowledge should make it possible to develop better models for more efficient, economical, and equitable care.
